The Workshops                       (Previous Workshops)

The affordable workshops are held twice a week for an agreed number of weeks. During the evaluation of the pilot workshops, we found that 10 to 12 clients comprised the ideal number with a trained facilitator, and two actors present with drama therapy or Child Line experience. Professional scripts create a safe way in which to peel away the layers of denial and find solutions to seemingly inescapable conditions. These written texts are effective in allowing people to open up and express painful feelings and we have found that this self-expression leads to increased self-esteem, awareness and change.

The clients are then encouraged to script their own scenes using the material they have uncovered. The workshops are held at 'safe' times for travelling, and transport can be arranged for the disabled. Entrance fees are means-assessed.

We have devised short plays for schools in conjunction with therapists and drama teachers. Again, an ensured quality of acting gets the message across. Using the minimum of props, all these plays can be performed easily.
